Villa Dark Horse – Of old loves and the things that go by...
At April 3 about 80 visitors came to the Garden House of the Green Roof in Utrecht, to see the performance of Villa Dark Horse. It was received with much enthousiasm and can now be seen in the Living Room of the Villa. If you don't see the English website please click the British flag at the top left!
The performance consisted of two original songs with accompaniment by Bam Commijs at the piano, and two poems. The first song, Traces, was inspired by Ms M's first lover.
The long text, Past the bent birch, tells about the last two years Ms M. experienced with her father-in-law who suffered from dementia. The second poem, Late encounter, is in remembrance of her inspiring Dutch teacher, who she saw after 35 years. Sadly, he passed away shortly after.
To end on a happy note, the performance was concluded with the carnival hit I was in the hospital... in which the shortcomings of our health care system are sung about. Despite the sad end of this song, it was received with the necessary hilarity. Go and watch, listen and enjoy!
