A new spring and a new sound: Nejburs!
Our last newsletter was about the Villa's performance during Voordorps Imagination in 2022. After that, it was quiet. Quiet? Well no! Anything but that!
During Voordorps Imagination, the Villa discovered its neighbour singer-songwriter Marco the Fenderman in the audience. The Villa had noticed earlier that there was some activity at its neighbour's. Dragging guitars, amplifiers and boxes, and occasionally the sound of an electric guitar could be heard.
After the performance, it came to a conversation between the neighbours. It then emerged that the Fenderman had written a number of songs, but that those songs were still looking for the right form and sound.
And so a new project was born: Nejburs. A duo: the Fenderman on guitar and the Villa singing. Music from the living room always recorded in one take, without repairs afterwards.

The Fenderman's compositions are inspired by a whole range of universal, personal and topical themes: relationships, loss, vanity, war and other evils in the world, such as the Utrecht tram attack.
New songs are posted regularly. The Fenderman has provided the music with appropriate film footage. In due course, the film clips will also be shown and heard in the Villa's Music Room.

The performance consisted of two original songs with accompaniment by Bam Commijs at the piano, and two poems. The first song, Traces, was inspired by Ms M's first lover.
